Hindustani Classical Vocalist
BIOGRAPHY
Aditi Joshi (née Padma Godbole) started her training in Hindustani classical singing at the age of eight under Smt. Neela Ghanekar (disciple of Pt. N R. Marulkar and mother of well-known playback singer Sadhna Sargam). Smt. Ghanekar immediately recognized her talent and continued to hone her as a pupil and disciple, encouraging her to opt for an M.A. in Music from SNDT University and then completing her Sangeet Visharad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay. She continued to tutor Aditi in the Gwalior Gharana until her illness, which made her incapacitated to teach further, she suggested her to approach the doyen of Agra & Gwalior Gharana, Pt. Yashwantbua Joshi for further taalim (Disciple of Pt. Mirashibua and Pt. Jagannath bua Purohit – “Gunidas”).
For the next eight years, Aditi continued to learn from Yashwantbua, picking up nuances of Gwalior and Agra gharana and imbibing his simple, straightforward but wholesome style of singing, developing a plethora of paramparik bandishes and dedicating herself to her craft, just as her guru had done. Thereafter Aditi sought the tutelage of Smt. Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Aditi is presently receiving guidance from Pt. Shankar Abhyankar, a well known sitarist and renowned Classical Bandish composer (Vaggeyakaar) and also receiving guidance from Smt. Apurva Gokhale.

One of the most prominent and highly-respected Hindustani classical singers of our time, Vidushi Veena Sahasrabuddhe was a Gwalior gharana stalwart and extremely well-established Indian and international performer. As her disciple, Aditi lived with and learnt from her guru, experiencing first-hand the grace, warmth and intensity of the much-cherished guru-shishya parampara of Indian Classical Music. She made many stage appearances along with Veenatai at many celebrated events. Veenatai was instrumental in helping Aditi develop her own style and approach to classical music and deepening her understanding of Gwalior gharana gaayki. Her influence on Aditi is evident in her well-rounded voice, unique aalaap and taana patterns and nuanced use of gamak as also beautifully woven taranas.
Aditi stood first on the national level for Sangeet Alankar of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. 'A' grade artist of All India Radio, Aditi has performed in many prestigious music festivals nationwide. She has also conceptualised thematic concerts such as RutuRang.
Aditi's hard work and dedication paid off in the year 2023 when she was awarded empanelment by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). This recognition is a testament to her talent and commitment to her passion.
Initially appointed for one year, Aditi's empanelment by ICCR has proven to be a valuable addition to the center's faculty. Her dedication and passion for the arts have made her a beloved teacher and performer among students and ICCR panel members alike. Aditi's exceptional teaching and performance skills have earned her a well-deserved extension of her contract at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre in Moscow, Russia.
